Workplace Safety Pages
There are many aspects to Facility Safety and all are critically important to either Employee Safety or Compliance with the numerous regulations that exist today. In order to stay safe and compliant, there are many activities that must take place. Those that CCG can assist with are outlined below. If you don't see something that you need or feel would be beneficial to your Company please contact us by one of the methods listed on the Contacts page. We can manage your complete safety process for you. This includes Annual OSHA Compliance Training, Safety Meetings, Reports with accident statistics and costs, as well as regularly scheduled safety inspections audits. Find out how these services can relieve your administrative workload, promote a safer workplace, and benefit you!
1. Safety Documentation a. Development of new programs, plans or updating existing programs or plans. The development or even the modification safety programs can be very time consuming. CCG can develop and or implement these processes for your facility saving both time and resources allowing your employees to devote their time to the day to day needs of your facility. b. We can help write or strengthen your safety process. Our recommended plan includes sections for Safety Importance, Safety Culture, Safety Organization, Incentives and Measurements, Identification and Awareness, Safe Operating Procedures, Ergonomics, Case Management, Drug Testing, Initial and Ongoing Training, Regulatory Training, Safety Awareness for Non-Company Personnel, Implementation, and Revision Procedures.
2. Safety Training a. There are several sections within the OSHA standard that require training on some periodic basis. CCG will assist in this endeavor by either developing a training program for you (most likely in a Power Point format) or by coming onsite to conduct training. b. Monthly Safety Meetings are held to maintain a high level of safety awareness and OSHA compliance. We at CCG can develop the necessary structure for your organization to hold these meetings.
3. Safety Audits a. Mock OSHA audits are an excellent way to access your level of compliance as well as your level of safety. CCG is prepared to come onsite, conduct a mock OSHA audit and then submit to you a full report outlining all finding relative to OSHA regulations as well as other safety topics that would be "best practice" but not necessarily a regulatory requirement.
4. Process Safety Management a. If your facility stores or uses more than 10,000# of ammonia then you need to be aware of the PSM standard. We at CCG can develop, maintain, and/or upgrade your existing program. We can train train your employees in the various aspects of PSM. We can also perform the various aspects of the standard including PHA's, MOC's, PSI development, etc... Don't let the burdensome time requirements of this standard keep you from compliance. CCG will ensure that you are compliant {provide the necessary documentation, training, etc...} with this regulation. b. With over 12 years of experience in this area, we can develop a fully compliant system and ensure understanding by facility employees.
5. Maintenance Tracking a. An integral part of PSM and OSHA safety is the traceability of maintenance (PSM or otherwise). If you have a failure but can show where you were actively maintaining a piece of equipment and not ignoring issues then your facility will fare better than if you can not show maintenance records. We at CCG can assist you with the development of a tracking system for maintenance and failure management, thus enabling you to learn from maintenance records and history of the equipment.
6. Risk Management (RPM) Compliance Audits a. This is the EPA's version of OSHA's PSM standard. As they mirror each other very closely, we are also able to assist with the development of or modification of this program as well.
7. Measurement Systems a. Definition of measurement systems to include dollar, ratios, and intangible benefits.
8. Workman's Compensation Cost Reduction a. This process works to prevent accidents. The Case Management Process returns injured employees while limiting worker's comp losses and helping the employee. A special section details how to sustain the process. A well documented plan creates the culture and sets the structure for a successful safety process. b. You can save substantial dollars on worker's compensation while maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.
9. Ergonomics a. Currently there are no Federal Regulations pertaining to ergonomics. There are, however, guidelines. While OSHA can not site a company under the ergonomics label, they can use the "General Duty" clause to encompass what they feel is an unsafe situation. The following guidelines are available online.
Guidelines for Poultry Processing -- Ergonomics for the Prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders [PDF].
Guidelines for Retail Grocery Stores -- Ergonomics for the Prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders.
[Downloadable Version - OSHA Publication 3192
1993 Ergonomics Program Management Guidelines for Meatpacking Plants, 4.16 MB PDF.
